Hang in there!
I discovered this guy on one of my walks this week. I was so fascinated by him! At first I thought something was caught in some sort of spider's web but after making absolutely sure that was NOT the case I went closer for a better look. He was attached to the tree above him by a long silky thread. It was attached to his little home on one end and a branch about 6 feet up on the other.
It seemed like he was trying to get out of his cocoon so I thought maybe I was about to see something really amazing emerge! But he kept staying the same amount inside even though he was working so hard at something! It was just so intriguing I kept watching for a bit.
After a few minutes I realized he was getting higher! He and his little home were moving up! He was actually climbing his own thread. Then I realized the bundle of thread was gathering as he was climbing. I couldn’t believe it. I don’t know if this was the plan all along or if he had fallen but either way he was doing all he could to be up in that tree.
Eventually my fascination did wain a bit and the sun warmed a bit. So London and I headed back to the house. The next morning, of course, I stopped to inspect. And there he was on a branch in the tree! He had made it!
Now, normally I am not a big bug or national geo girl. (however recent posts have included a sand crab and furry k-9 soooo) But for some reason this whole event captured my attention. Again, I am not sure how he ended up in the position he started in but he kept going, I don’t know for how long, until he reached his destination. He made it!
Can we all just take a moment today and agree to be super cheesy and let this little guy and his endeavor speak to us?
We all have areas where we are in the climb of our lives! Places we want to quit. But if God has called us to them he will give us the strength to keep going! To reach the finish line! Let him renew your energy, your strength today! Rest in him, be refreshed in him. You’ll be amazed at all he can do through you and you won’t believe the feeling of accomplishment when you reach your goal! Keep going you little bagworm! (Ha! I did some research and found out that’s his name 😉) Choose one of these verses as your verse for today or this season. Make it your home screen on your phone, go old school and write it on a post-it! Think about it. Repeat it to yourself. Pray it. Say it. Think it! In these ways God will meet you right where you are and strengthen you the way that only he can! "but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9
"I can do all this through him who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10
"Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Philippians 1:6
