My Amazing Accomplishment!

I actually am quite proud. I honestly don't know that I've ever done this before. I don't think many have.

I finished a chapstick tube.

Amazing. I know. Some people have Grammys, some have Oscars. Some even have the elusive EGOT. But me? I have a finished chapstick tube.

Look out world! Today chapstick, tomorrow a Pulitzer!

I should probably go ahead and get the Pulitzer now. Finishing a chapstick tube is no joke!

It takes:

consistency - I had to show up everyday for that tube! Do you have any idea how many chapstick tubes I have? Me either. But it's got to be close to 20. I was consistent in my singular pursuit. I had to choose not to abandon this tube.

determination - I chose not to allow dry lips to be part of my life. I was determined to see this through all the way until the end. Even when it looked like I'd never get there. Never give up. Never surrender.

organization - I can't be quite certain how long I've had this tube. At least a year, probably more like 2+. I never lost it! Never left it somewhere. Didn't drop it in some parking lot or restaurant.

That is quite amazing! I think I will take the rest of the week off. ;)

Seriously though, what it takes to finish a tube of chapstick are the same things it takes to complete any large or difficult or long-term goal.

Growing in our relationship with God

Growing in our physical health

Reading a book

Writing a book

Keeping our home clean and organized

Starting a business

Starting a ministry

Leading our family

Loving our neighbors

Tell me any goal and I can tell you that you'll need to be consistent, determined and organized, at the very least, in order to reach your goal.

The last thing I know we all need in order to reach our goals is belief. Belief that they are possible. And I know they are.

Not because I finished a chapstick tube but because all things are possible with God. Things much more important than combating lip dryness. ;)

Our world is going through something right now that none of us have gone through before. So much is uncertain and so much might seem impossible. It can be easy to get overwhelmed, anxious or depressed. But everything that matters to God, every good thing he has planned for your life and mine is still absolutely on the horizon. Our good future with him is not cancelled!

Whatever you feel he has called you to, commissioned you to do, is still on the table and more than possible! God is with us and for us. He provides all we need to reach the goals he has given us. So get started! Start again! Start again, again! Keep going. Remind yourself that He is with you. He will equip you and lead you and guide you. You've got this!

2 Timothy 1:7

"For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline."

Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Joshua 1:9

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

Matthew 28:20

"Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Matthew 19:26

Jesus looked at them and said,“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Pslam 46

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Come and see what the Lord has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth. He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire. He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
